More podium joy for Jann in Hungary! by Rob Allender

Zamparelli, Niederhauser and Mardenborough pick up the silverware after race 2 in Hungary

Jann Mardenborough aka @Jannthaman scored another podium in Hungary in the latest round in the 2014 GP3 championship fresh from his ground breaking win at Hockenheim. Driving a Dallara Renault GP3 car run by Arden Motorsport, Jann started in race two in 2nd place, after finishing race 1 in 7th place, and paced himself well to finish in a secure 3rd place!  Jann has moved up to 9th in the points table! He is now only 2 points behind the highly experienced Dean Stoneman and has scored 4 times in the last 4 races, including his maiden GP3 race victory! With Jann scoring 39 points this means that Jann has outscored Stoneman by 19 points over the last 4 races. With 8 races to go including the final at Yas Marina Circuit, United Arab Emirates, so if Jann can continue with his current form he could well overall both Stoneman & the equally experienced Dino Zamparelli & Nick Yelloy to finish as the top British driver in GP3! http://www.gp3series.com/Standings/Driver

However Jann is keen to keep his feet on the ground and targeted qualifying as his next target to work on. 'It’s the area I definitely need to improve on. To be honest, I did get a little bit of traffic on my second set of tyres and I lost a few tenths, but yes in general it needs to improve. So we will work hard on that and it will make our lives so much easier come race one. My next goal is to get a race one podium!'

The next race is at Spa with the remaining round on 5 - 7 Sep at Monza, supporting the Italian Grand Prix. In the meantime Jann will be busy with Nissan contributions to do with the GT academy!

The GP3 Series is a one-make championship consisting of 27 identical cars. The Chassis is designed and built by Dallara Automobili with a AER V6 3.4 litres naturally aspirated engine, 400HP @8000 rpm.

The GP3 Series uses Pirelli PZero tyres in three specifications (hard, medium and soft). Each driver has four sets of dry-weather tyres and two sets of wet-weather tyres available at each event.

No individual developments or upgrades are permitted in the series, and all spare parts must be purchased directly from the GP3 Series. Repairs of structural components must be carried out by Dallara in order to ensure integrity.

There are 2 races in a weekend with the gird for race 2 to decided by reversing the top 8 finishers from race 1.

Points are scored in Race 1 with 25 for 1st place, then 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4,  2, down to 1 point for 10th.

Two points being awarded to the driver who set the fastest lap of the race.

In Race 2 the top eight finishers score points (15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1) and the driver who sets the fastest lap scores two points.

The point for fastest lap in both Race 1 and Race 2 will only be awarded to a driver who finishes in the top 10, and who has started the race from the grid.

Hockenheim GP3 Race Winners Mike Kirchhofer and @Jannthaman get into the spirit of things!
