We were part of The Classic
and Modern Motorsport Festival – Mallory Park 17th May and 18th
With the WSSCC grid spilt into Two by the Organisers, our friends in the Classic and Modern MC, with the Five of the slower cars in Classes 1, 2 & 3 in with the Tin Tops and Super Saloons races on Saturday and had a fine time by all accounts.
This left the remaining cars in with the Intermarque Silhouette Series on Sunday.
After Quali Damaian was 12th in his Westfield
14th was Chris EVERILL (Ginetta G55) Complaining of a lack of traction away from the Hairpin
16th was WRDA Guest Fabio LUFFARELLI
19th was Tyrone LUFFARELLI giving his new Peugeut 106 GTi n outing.
20th and last was Doug FORBES (Ginetta G20), Doug was having a sorts of mechanical problems and opted to miss the racing.
Race 1 - 15 minutes- rolling start! So the grid came round and the race started! Chris Everill caught Damian at the start, With Damian and the LUFFARELLIs at the back! Question-When is a race not a race? Answer - When its like this one! Kurt Russell (Tigra Silhouette) pulled off and stopped on the side of the track, just between the ESSES and the run to the hairpin! With the car stranded in a dangerous place, on one of the fastest parts of the circuit, the organiser sent the pace car out, and a recovery truck! The idea presumably was to tow the car away! But the recovery truck they sent could not shift the car, so they called for a recovery truck which could lift it, All this time the grid was frozen behind the safety car, whilst time ticked on! Eventually the race finished after 15 mins – 9 laps, with only Half a lap of actual racing! And the car was recovered after the race had ended! What an anti-climax!
Race 2 15 minutes- rolling start With the Wrda racers set as a separate grid, it didn’t take for the quicker cars - Chris Everill and Damian to get amongst the Silhouettes. Chris 7th overall and Damian 8th. After a few lap we began to see a few Silhouettes bite the dust (6 in fact) and then a few laps later Chris pulled off! Fabio pulled up to Damian, and they finished 7th & 8th with Tyrone 17th
