For years, BARC Wales has hosted two well-loved Sprint meetings at Pembrey Circuit—one in May and another in September but on the 6th and 7th of September 2025, something exciting happened: they held their very first race meeting on the same track, on the same weekend as the Autumn Sprint! The WRDA were thrilled to be part of it, bringing their Welsh Sports and Saloon Car Championship to join in the fun with three races at their spiritual home.
This was a first-of-its-kind collaboration at Pembrey, and naturally, there were a few nerves beforehand but thanks to the meticulous planning by the BARC Wales team—and the fantastic support, guidance, and encouragement from the Pembrey Circuit staff—it all came together beautifully.
The WRDA was given four 30-minute sessions across the weekend. Each session, the Sprint competitors paused, and the track seamlessly switched from Sprint to Race configuration. Timing gear was moved, officials and marshals repositioned, and race cars assembled in the usual area before heading out for qualifying or racing. After each session, the cars returned to the assembly area which now acted as their parc fermé, and once the track was clear, Sprint action resumed. It was a smooth, well-oiled operation—and it worked like a charm!
The weather kept us on our toes, swinging from torrential downpours to glorious sunshine, but nothing could dampen the spirits of everyone involved. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again in 2026—mark your calendars for 30th/31st May and 5th/6th September!
